St Johnstone vs Rangers Prediction, Betting Tips and Preview
St Johnstone play host to Glasgow Rangers in a televised Scottish Premiership match this Wednesday. Read the match predictions to find out why an away win is the betting tip at McDiarmid Park. The Saints won 0-1 away to Kilmarnock last time out while the Gers won 1-0 at home to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
St Johnstone vs Rangers Preview
St Johnstone will be without defensive midfielder Paul Paton who has a sprained ankle. He joins winger Michael Coulson on the sidelines and centre-back Ally Gilchrist is also struggling with a groin problem. Right-back Ricky Forster is one yellow card away from a ban.
Rangers will once again be without Niko Kranjcar who is out with a ruptured cruciate ligament. Central midfielder Jordan Rossiter is also in the treatment room with a calf injury. Martyn Waghorn has been among the goals recently and it was his piercing run from the right that caused a decisive own-goal last time out.

St Johnstone vs Rangers Prediction
St Johnstone have put together a handful of good results which has moved them up to fifth in the table, with a 7 point cushion to Ross County below. They did well to keep Aberdeen at bay in a 0-0 away draw before battling back to earn a point in the 1-1 draw at home to Motherwell. They defended well away to Kilmarnock but the back line will be put under more intense pressure here.
Rangers have really hit their stride and come into this match on a four-game winning streak. Home wins over Aberdeen and Hearts were followed by a 1-2 victory away to Hamilton, where the Gers always looked in control despite conceding a late goal. It took an own goal to separate the sides at home to Inverness but the positive is a second clean sheet in three matches.
Given that St Johnstone have defended reasonably well of late, I expect Rangers to do much of the pressing. The away side should have plenty of the ball in the final third and Clark will certainly have his hands kept warm between the sticks. Rangers seem to be grinding out results of late and I think they’ll find a way through to nick this one by a single goal.
